Hey MCL peeps, another month has flown by and another month of ups and downs, highs and lows but in the main I have been genuinely enjoying myself…
So, I got back from my holidays end of May determined to eat clean and I can say that for 2 weeks I did just that, I HIIT the gym and spin bike (it is so great to have this little videos saved) and the occasional fast. Calf still not great, sad times so running is out at the moment.
Prepping is the key for me and now I have so many recipes to choose from if I write a plan of action for the week at the weekend then it is easier to stick to it. This is always provided I do not get called into a business lunch or dinner last minute which can always be the biggest pain in the bum when trying to be healthy.
So for the first couple of weeks in June I was feeling good, sleeping well and alcohol was not too big of an issue……then the wheels fell off….Fathers Day, World Cup, Ascot, World Cup again and then a weekend away with my friend Jess.
Jess and I have a girls road trip once a year to see a concert and this year we decided it would be Dolly Parton in Leeds, was so much fun. Of course whilst we were in Leeds home of MCL it would have been rude not to catch up with some other MCL girls and so we hooked up with Melanie Lee and Charlotte (aka Bikini blogger) and her fella Lee for a few drinks….and then a few more…..oh ok, a lot of drinks…well it was nearly Charlotte's birthday after all….
Needless to say the train journey home was a tad sore and once I got home I had to pack for a business trip to Toronto for the week. Poor Chris has not seen much of me recently (probably enjoying the peace and quiet, and TV remote!)
So I have spent the last week in Toronto, all with good intentions of hitting the gym, eating well and generally getting back on track. NOPE that did not happen either, whilst I ate fairly well, the food was amazing, steaks, fish, salads for lunch, it is fair to say we worked very hard and partied hard too. I made some good friends and enjoyed myself immensely but have to say not enough sleep or rest was had and so by the time I got the plane home Friday I was just craving water and my own bed and to SLEEP well. If I eat carbs and drink lots, I feel bloated and generally like a slug and I have really missed the gym, so it is time for me to have a “dry period”, eat well and look after myself a bit more.
So with this in mind, I slept for 12 hours last night, hit the gym today and been shopping for the week. I am going to sign up for the 21 day programme starting 7th July but there is also a Beach Ready plan for 10 days that is available. I want to get back to basics for a while and I have my birthday at the end of July so reckon this is good timing to get back in the zone.
In the meantime, I have prepped this weeks meals around potential pitfalls with client dinners and meetings and will just say NO to the booze thank you very much…
Hope to see a few of you on the plan with me, it is always better when you do this with a support group and for those of you who have joined me before, i am ready for some banter along the way….
So that is all for now, off to finish making the chicken curry for tomorrows dinner and my tuna salad for lunch…..and watch some more Glastonbury with a glass of fizzy water and a slice of lime, getting ready for the week ahead.
